How to Fix the “Too Many Regional Settings” Error in Google Merchant Center

By Nick Johnston

Regional Availability and Pricing can be a useful setup for retailers with region-specific pricing or availability. But the implementation has a few hidden limits.

One of them is the “Too Many Regional Settings” error in Google Merchant Center. It usually appears when the regional inventory feed includes more regional overrides than the account is currently allowed to support.

By default, that limit is 2,000 regional overrides. Once the feed goes beyond that, Merchant Center may reject the upload or block the rollout.

The frustrating part is that the error message does not give much direction. It tells you something is wrong, but not what to do next.

What to do when you see the error

The fix is to request a higher limit from Google using this form. Before you submit the request, pull together two numbers:

  • Region count: The number of regions included in the setup.
  • Feed capacity: The number of rows in the regional inventory feed.

Include both in your request. Do not submit the exact minimum you need for launch. Add a cushion so the program can grow without running into the same issue again a few weeks later.

That cushion matters because Regional Availability and Pricing feeds can expand quickly as teams add more stores, adjust pricing logic, or increase product coverage.

If you already know the feed will exceed the default threshold, bring it up with your Google team before launch. It is much easier to handle the limit increase in planning than during final testing.

Why this matters

This is a small setup issue, but it can create a real launch delay. A regional inventory feed can be formatted correctly and still fail if the account-level limits are not ready for the size of the program. That is especially relevant for retailers using Google Shopping, Local Inventory Ads (LIA), or store-specific pricing strategies.

The takeaway: check the limit early, request more room than you need today, and do not wait until upload day to find out the account is capped.

VersaFeed helps mid-market and enterprise retailers resolve Merchant Center errors, improve product feed quality, and scale programs across Google Shopping, retail media, and social commerce.
